A former journalist who turned thirteen years of foreign affairs reporting into analysis of geopolitics and security.
I am Tudor Emanuel IONESCU (also written Ionescu Tudor Emanuel), a Bucharest-based former journalist and geopolitical analyst specialising in international relations, geopolitics and security. For more than thirteen years I researched and wrote about international security, foreign policy and European affairs, first as a freelance foreign affairs writer, then in the newsrooms of B1 TV, Libertatea and other Romanian media.
My work rests on primary sources: government publications, EU and NATO communications, news agencies and open-source intelligence, checked against each other before anything is published. I have applied that method covering the European Parliament in Strasbourg, running breaking-news operations, and most recently researching China and the Indo-Pacific.
I have worked in Romania and China, and my analysis looks at geography and history as much as at current events.
